Airport Information

Information about access to and from Narita Airport and Haneda Airport.

Narita

Narita Airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 and terminal 2 are directly connected to train stations and limousine bus stops. Terminal 3 for Low Cost Carriers (LCC) is by way of Terminal 2.

Airport

Terminal 1
This terminal was built when Narita Airport was first opened but it is easy to use after some renovations. There is a North Wing and a South Wing, so checking airlines is necessary. This terminal is connected to Narita Airport Station.
Terminal 2
This terminal was built when the second runway was constructed. Although this is also an old terminal, it is easy to use after the recent renovation, especially restrooms etc. This terminal is directly connected to Airport Terminal 2 station.
Terminal 3
This is the newest terminal for LCC. Although this is a small terminal, it is the most vibrant with a lot of young passengers. Train users go to Terminal 2 from Terminal 3, useing the shuttle bus or walk over.

Bus services

Although bus services are convenient as they are connected to major stations, hotels and other major spots, they are not wheelchair user friendly. The only exception is the “Yurakucho Shuttle” of Keisei Bus, which operates six round trips with buses with a lift for wheelchair users. But it is not so convenient as the buses go to Kajibashi parking near Yurakucho Station.Bus stops are located on the first floor outside the arrival lobby of each terminal. Ticket counters are also in the lobby (see information for each terminal).

Train services

JR and Keisei Electric Railway provide services from Narita Airport. Train stations are located in the basement of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 (see information for each terminal).

  • JR Narita Express goes to Shinjuku, Hachioji, Yokohama and Oofuna via Tokyo.
  • Keisei Electric Railway is connected to Nippori and Ueno by Skyliner and Access Express.

Multipurpose Restrooms

Brief Accessibility Review from YUKORIN on Multipurpose Restrooms in Narita Airport

Wheelchair users would have no concerns about using restrooms as there are many multipurpose restrooms in Narita Airport. My best recommendation is to use the multipurpose restroom at the International Arrival Lobby on the 1st floor of Terminal 2. It is spacious and has enough equipment such as bidet functions. I found two multipurpose restrooms in the ladies’ room at the restaurant and shopping area (the Airport Mall) on the 4th floor of Terminal 2. However, the multipurpose restrooms at the International Departure Lobby on the 3rd floor of Terminal 2 are still somewhat old-style. I would like to expect them to be refurbished in the future. The multipurpose restrooms in Terminal 3 are clean and well-equipped because it is the newest building. I can say the multipurpose restrooms in Terminal 1 are also easy to use. It might be challenging for wheelchair users to use a lavatory during a flight. You would be relieved to use the multipurpose restrooms in Narita Airport as you leave or arrive at Japan.

Haneda

There are 3 terminals at Haneda Airport. It is necessary to move to the domestic terminal if you need to transfer over. A shuttle bus is available between each of the terminals and you can take the buses with wheelchairs.

Airport

International terminal
It is the newest terminal at Haneda Airport. The arrival lobby is on the second floor and the departure lobby is on the third floor. It’s convenient to go up and down with the spacious elevators.
Terminal 1
Terminal 1 is the domestic terminal mainly for JAL and Skymark etc and is the oldest terminal of Haneda. The elevator is not big enough and inconvenient. The departure lobby is on the second floor and the arrival lobby is on the first floor.
Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is the domestic terminal for ANA and Air Do etc. It is a new terminal which was renewed when runway C was improved. It is easier to use than Terminal 1.

Airport Bus
The bus is convenient to connect each spot directly. However, it’s not convenient for wheelchair users. Only 4 buses bound for Yokohama terminal have a lift available for wheelchairs. Yokohama terminal is also not suitable for wheelchair access and not recommended. Each bus terminal is located outside of the arrival lobby on the 1st floor and the ticket office is in the lobby. (please refer to each terminal information)

Train
The Keikyu Line and the Monorail is available from Haneda airport.
  • The Keikyu line is connected to Yokohama, Shinagawa, Asakusa etc.
  • The Monorail arrives at JR Hamamatsucho Station and trains are available to connect to each onward station.

(Refer to the guidance of each terminal)
