Using JR trains from Narita Airport

Using JR trains from Narita Airport

The transportation from Narita Airport to Tokyo central area is mainly by trains or limousine buses. Train services are JR and Keisei Electric Railway.

At Narita Airport, train services are available from stations on the basement floor of Terminal 1 with a North Wing and a South Wing, and Terminal 2.

Taking a train from Terminal 2

第Terminal 2 has two exits, Exit A and Exit B. Elevators are located in the middle of the two exits.

Going down to the basement floor by elevator and there are ticket gates.

The platforms and entrances of the two train services, JR and Keisei Electric Rail way, are side by side.

Getting tickets at each counter and enter the station from the gate.

JR is on the right side, the red entrance.

The elevators to the platforms are relatively spacious.

But there are fences to block baggage carts and wheelchair users also can’t pass through. Contacting the station staff is necessary to open the fences.

Taking a train from Terminal 1

The arrival lobby of the North Wing and the South Wing are both located on the first floor. It is most convenient to go down to the B1floor by taking a nearby elevator and take a train from Narita Airport Station. Airport limousine buses are not accessible for wheelchair users as non-step buses are not available.

This part explains transportation by trains. Going down to the B1 floor is easy as several elevators are available and the train station is in front of the elevator hall on the B1 floor. There is a help desk, called “Special Assistance Counter” if you need some help.

After going down a slope to the ticket counter, get the tickets for Keisei Electric Railway (Skyliner or Access Express) or JR Narita Express. Platforms of Keisei Electric Railway and JR are side by side so you need to be sure about the entrances. Keisei Electric Railway is connected to JR at Nippori Station and Ueno Station.

1. JR Narita Express (NEX)

JJR Narita Express has spaces for wheelchair users in Car No.5 and 11. Each car has two designated spaces for wheelchair users.

It takes about an hour to Tokyo Station (some trains go to Shinjuku Station, Ikebukuro Station and Yokohama Station etc.).

2. Keisei Skyliner

The Keisei Skyliner has two designated spaces for wheelchair users in Car No.5.

It takes about forty minutes to Nippori Station. As Keisei Ueno Station is not close to JR Ueno Station, Nippori Station is convenient to transfer to JR.

The accessibility from JR Nippori Station to other JR stations is good.
