Field Work on a Wheelchair at the Tsukiji inner market

The Tsukiji market was closed and moved to Toyosu after it finished the morning session on October 6, 2018. The outer markets still remain the same, so I think the spirit as the base for food and tourism will continue.

I will introduce the inner market briefly in order to keep Tsukiji in memory.

The market was a popular tourist base for foreigners from early morning during opening hours. The Tuna auction sale tours and Japanese and Western food shops were popular, so there were always big lines and it was hard for people to enter.

Fish market

The fish market was the main place in Tsukiji where fish gathered every season from all over Japan. And the inside was like this.

Tuna handling is particularly famous.

Besides, every season was full of seasonal food stuff.

Vegetable and fruit market

It is also popular in the handling of fruits and vegetables of seasons and always lined up here as well.

This was also popular for tourists.

Uogashi sideways

In addition to the markets there was a shopping area called “Uogashi Yokocho”. There were shops in several buildings selling various items and eating and drinking establishments where various meals were offered. Sushi shops and shops of seafood bowl were popular, but there were various restaurants in both Japanese and Western style.

There were always tourist queues in front of the restaurants. Two-car trucks and electric cars called turret trucks were running carrying goods around in the area.

Among them the Fish Market Water Shrine was there in the Tsukiji market.
