Kitanomaru Garden

The Kitanomaru Park was northern gate of Edo Castle, which was the cite of Tayasu family and Shizu family (both were one of the Gosankyo (the three provileged branches of the Tokugawa family). The entrance of Tayasu family(Tayasumon Gate) is famous as the entrance of Nippon Budoukan (or Nippon martial arts center). Shimizumon Gate (entrance of the Shimizu family, placed in front of the Chiyoda ward office) is also famous. Both gates are designated as Japan Important Cultural Asset. The building of the head quater of the Imperial Guard Division became Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Crafts Gallery. the Garden of the Imperial Guard Division is now open for public at no fee. It is a little-known spot for viewing the famous cherry blossom viewing spot "chidoriga-fuchi pedestrian path" from the opposit bank.
