Zojoji Temple

The starting point of this area is Daimon Station of the Toei Oedo Line. The ground level can be directly reached by elevator.

If you use the JR Line, please go up to the ground level by the elevator in the Hamamatsucho World Trade Center Building from the central gate of Hamamatsucho Station.

After getting out of the elevator of Daimon Station, we will turn left then go straight towards Tokyo Tower. Passing the first intersection, Daimon is located at the next traffic light.

Zojoji Temple – Daimon Gate

Zojoji Temple is in sight. Passing Daimon Gate and walking some more, we are at Sanmon Gate.

Walking briskly at the intersection in front of Sanmon Gate.

There are two stone steps in the front of Sanmon Gate, but only one step on both sides. We will cross a step on the side. Wheelchair users can cross the threshold as it has a slope.

Pushing a wheelchair on the dirt area beyond the threshold is hard work. It is impossible for wheelchair users to proceed on the stone pavement with the wide gaps. We recommend using the side gate on the right side, without entering from the Sanmon Gate.

A photo in front of the main building with the cherry blossoms blooming. In spite of the forecast of full bloom on the day of our field work, it is one-third blooming, as cold days continued.

It is pleasant to proceed towards the open space in front of the main building.

There are three steps in front of Ankokuden next to the main building, but we are able to go up thanks to the slope beside an entrance.

There is the grave of the Tokugawa Shogun family behind Ankokuden. We can go up till the front gate.

Grave of the Tokugawa Shogun family

Wheelchair users will have some difficulties as some parts of the grounds of the temple have steps, but strolling is mostly possible. Please visit Zojoji Temple utilizing the map.

Tokyo Tower

After strolling in Zojoji Temple, we are heading for Tokyo Tower.Going back along the same way we took to Sanmon Gate, turning right at Hibiya-dori Avenue, we are heading for nearby Shiba Park.

The neighboring area of Zojoji Temple is Shiba Park and The Prince Park Tower Tokyo (hotel). A part of its second floor deck is a park with a magnificent view of Tokyo Tower. We will take the bypass to the elevator as there are steps at the front.

Taking the elevator to the second floor. Elevators are essential for wheelchair users. We are delighted to see the progress of accessible facilities in recent years.

This is the superb view point of Tokyo Tower, and taking a commemorative photo.

Two more members join us, and we become a total of eight.Going to the right in the park to the exit. Going down the slope to the intersection at the foot of Tokyo Tower.

The slope to Tokyo Tower is relatively steep, male members takes turns pushing the wheelchair.

Arriving at Tokyo Tower, and we take a short break and a fun picture.

The steep uphill becomes a steep downslope on the way back and it is a formidable challenge for wheelchair users. We keep lifting the front wheel of the wheelchair to go down.

We take the Toei Oedo Line from Akabanebashi Station to Shiodome Station. Akabanebashi Station is the nearest station to visit Tokyo Tower.

Getting off at Shiodome Station, taking the elevator to the exit, heading for the Japanese Red Cross at Shiba.

We have returned safely.

Another commemorative picture in front of the Japanese Red Cross. Thank you.
