Accessible Blog has started!

Introduction

Hello! I am J.J. I am one of the coordinators of Accessible Activities.
We are members of the Japanese Red Cross Language Service Volunteers under the Japanese Red Cross Society, having marked our 50th anniversary in 2015. Accessible Activities provides information about accessibility of certain tourist destinations and the related railways.

Our history

Accessible Activities was the first activity of the Japanese Red Cross Language Service Volunteers. We started the activities by publishing “Tokyo Guide for wheelchair friends” in 1977. And now we provide information about accessibility for people with disabilities on the Accessible Tokyo website.

In 2014 we renewed the Accessible Tokyo website to make it available on smartphones. In 2015, it was also made available in English. In addition, Japan Times covered our activities on the back of increased interest about foreign visitors to Japan towards the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Lastly

The Accessible Tokyo website still has room for improvement to provide further information. In the meantime this blog would give you timely information and tell you about our activities as well as newly recommended places in Tokyo. We will also make other enjoyable information available from time to time. By visualizing our activities through this blog, we would be happy if people with disabilities both domestic and from overseas would enjoy reading it.

We hope that more people will make use of our website and blog. All members of Accessible Activities will make great efforts to earn the backing of many people both domestic and from overseas.
We appreciate your continued support.
